Lets say we have a top level assembly Product 1. Inside the BOM for Product 1 there are Part 1, Part 2, Part 3

The BOM would be
Part 1 - quantity 2
Part 2 - quantity 1
Part 3 - quantity 5

If a customer orders 10 Product 1, I need a report that says I'll need 50 part 3, 10 part 2, etc.. so I know how many of each part to pull to assemble 10 Product 1.

How would I accomplish this?

Create a BOM. Create a work order and choose to assemble 10 units of Product 1 on the Parts tab.

Change the work order status to open, scheduled, or started. Now, the components will be added to the Committed. quantities. Run Report Reports/Inventory to Order or create POs by going to the Orders/Purchasing/Utilities, Create POs tab.
